ARPA's Mission:

  • Providing a forum for interchange of ideas and information among parks, recreation and wildland professionals and supporters;

  • Promoting the personal, environmental, social and economic benefits of parks, recreation and wildlands

  • Coordinating, organizing and promoting quality educational opportunities; AND

  • Preparing and providing educational information relating to parks, recreation and wildlands.

The American Academy Foundation Board is pleased to offer two John C. Potts Leadership Development Scholarships (Pottsie Scholarships) to the NRPA Directors School in Chicago for 2018. Scholarship funds cover tuition, lodging, and up to $500 in travel expenses for two (2) first-year students at the NRPA Directors School.

To apply for the John C. Potts scholarship, applicants must email the following no later than June 1, 2018 to
(1) application form;
(2) letter of nomination from a Directors School graduate or an AAPRA member;
(3) resume (not to exceed three pages);
(4) essay describing how attending the NRPA Directors School will help you achieve your professional development goals (12 point Arial font, not to exceed 500 words).

Mark your calendars - the community of Fairbanks will host the ARPA Annual Conference October 23-25 2018. The conference is an opportunity for professionals from across the state to gather and celebrate the diversity of our field.

The focus of the conference is threefold; opportunities for continuing education and the exchange of best practices, the chance to network with other peers and to recognize accomplishments through the ARPA Awards Ceremony.
